I’ve been using my Nook color to tweet about the books I’m reading. I’ve had quite a few people tell me this was helpful. Choosing what book to read next is always an ordeal for me. I scour the web for best of lists and drill down through all of the “people who bought this book also bought this…” lists in my Nook. I ask all my friends what they are reading and if they think I’d like it. Maybe you are like me and maybe a quick list of what I’ve been reading will be useful. So here you go:
As you can see from today’s comic I am currently reading 11/22/63 by Stephen King. I love this book but I am a sucker for time travel hooks and this one is very unique.
- The Dig by Michael Siemsen. This was a great read that reminded me a lot of Michael Chrichton’s better stuff. A boy who can read the thoughts and feelings of an objects previous owner just by touching the thing is asked to hold a strange artifact discovered in an paleontological dig.
- Seven Princes by John R. Fultz. This is a kick ass fantasy novel that is heavy on the fantasy. Necromancers and giants and wizards and all kinds of awesome shit.
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. If you like video games and D&D this book is pretty much a must read. In the not to distant future everyone spends their life plugged into a massive MMO essentially. The creator of the virtual world left a series of easter eggs hidden in the game that if discovered will lead to his fortune. He was obsessed with the 1980’s movies and games. So all of the clues and puzzles are based on that stuff. Trust me you’ll love this book.
Firebird by Jack McDevitt. I am a big fan of the Alex Benedict series of which this is book number six. It’s sort of like Indiana Jones in space. That’s a good thing.
Machine Man by Max Barry. This is a quick fun read about what the worlds first Cyborg might actually end up looking like. If you like Sci-Fi and dark humor pick this up.
So there you go. I’m a pretty slow reader so that represents the last few months of reading for me. I hope you find something in there that you like.
