Cross buy could work for Xbox One and PC, but corporate squabbles will get in the way
I'm always in favor of anything that gives gamers more flexibility with their products, but I'm a bit torn on whether this feature would actually be useful.
On one hand, Cross Play could help keep online communities alive longer. But on the other hand, I'm not sure who gains from Cross Buy on PC and Xbox One. It works for the PS Vita and PS3 because you can play on PS3 at home and use your Vita on the go or in bed. Xbox One and PC Cross Buy would merely offer you the opportunity to play in two different rooms of the house.
Although, there's some great utility there for gamers who travel a lot, or use their laptops for gaming.
Ultimately, Cross Buy on just Windows and Xbox seems a bit useless, but anything that chips away from the walls that keep the platforms seperate is a good thing. Hopefully one day you'll be able to buy a game and enjoy a wide range of platforms to play it on. Judging by this article though, no one should hold their breath.
