Developer rails against free-to-play at… well, a free-to-play summit. It went over well!

I've talked to a few developers about this "race to the bottom" that is taking place due to the proliferation of free-to-play mobile games and $1 downloads. It's hard to get people to pay money for games in the mobile space, and who wants to charge $5 once when you can charge $1 forever?

Still, the developer in this article raises some good points, and it has been argued that free-to-play is pushing premium apps out of mobile altogether. I'm not sure if things are quite that dire, but it's nice to see someone stand up, take a look around, and say that a lot of bad things are taking place.

Even if that happens at a conference dedicated to one of those bad things, I guess.
