Epilepsy and gaming: When every new experience is Russian Roulette

This is a scary story about what one woman deals with every time she plays a game. We all see the epilepsy warnings on games, and the notes that we should take frequent breaks, but who pays attention to them? For most of us they're just one more thing to click through, but that information is useful and necessary for epileptic gamers.

Reading about the tools she has for managing her condition while gaming is fascinating. Sunglasses? Projectors? I had no idea there were tricks and tools to help keep the symptoms under control, and it just goes to show how hard it is to keep us away from our favorite hobby.

Still, it's hard to imagine what it's like to be scared of having a seizure every time you play a new game, or enter a new level. [Update: The author has since reached out to say that the fear was only in the first year or so] I want to thank the author of this article for sharing her experiences, and for giving us a little window into her world.
