Nintendo announces Smash Bros, Donkey Kong, Yoshi’s Island games and more on live stream

This morning, Nintendo held their E3 Nintendo Direct live stream event as part of a new low-key style presence that is intended to replace the traditional annual E3 press conference.

Ben's going to have some thoughts on that soon.

On the stream, they revealed a number of major new titles for both Wii U and 3DS including Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart 8, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Super Mario 3D World and Wii Party U for Wii U. They also announced Super Smash Bros. and Yoshi's New Island for 3DS.

In the news-filled stream they discussed a new game from Xenoblade Chronicles creator Monolith Soft called X, a delay for Wii Fit U to December as well as October release dates for Wii Party U, Wind Waker HD, and Pokemon X and Y. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is set for November while Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart 8 are to debut in 2014.

Nintendo previously announced that they would be making many of their E3 demos available at kiosks inside Best Buy stores, and today we learned which games will be hosted. The titles will be: Mario Kart 8, Super Mario 3D World, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, and Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD.

We'll be covering Nintendo's games in more depth as the show gets underway. You can find trailers for many of these games below.
