Planescape: Torment’s lead designer was already working on two games, but he’s coming home anyway
Chris Avellone was lead designer on the much-beloved Planescape: Torment. Now, he's contributing to the quasi-sequel, Torment: Tides of Numenera from inXile, but only if funding reaches the $3.5 million mark on Kickstarter. Destructoid contributor Fraser Brown caught up with Avellone recently to deliver this wonderful interview, which you absolutely must read if you're a fan of the Torment games.
It's interesting to read how Avellone is divvying up his time between Wasteland 2, Project Eternity, and Torment: Tides of Numenera, and Brown manages to pull some neat details about how far along the game is. For example, Avellone tells Brown about his character concepts, and we learn about not just Avellon's contribution, but how it will fit in with the other companions as well.
I also love the title: "...being a human stretch goal." I hadn't really thought of it like that before, and I'm not sure I'm totally comfortable with what feels like borderline ransom, but it's interesting to think about.
