The Avengers from the ground up: It’s time to get excited about Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Bringing superhero properties to television is always a risky thing, but this story about what Marvel is doing right with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has me actively excited about the show. The heros fly around the city and leave a giant wake of death and destruction, and it's not really addressed, but having a TV show that's going on at the same time that shows the world from the point of view of an agent, or even a random person?
There are all sorts of interesting places to take that story.
So give this a read, and let's talk about it. It seems like there's a whole lot of right decisions being made, and this is a smart move to keep fans interested in the characters and the world of Marvel between films. If the production values are that high, however, they're going to need to pull in some serious eyeballs if they hope to turn a profit, and I'm guessing this is an audience that's comfortable with DVRs and downloads. It could be tricky to get the ratings the show needs to survive.
Still, I can't wait to start watching. What do you think?
