The death, and rebirth of Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines: one of the best RPGS ever released
I didn't get into Bloodlines until long after it was released, and upon buying the game on Steam I went online to grab all the community-created patches and content. It's pretty easy to find the best stuff, with detailed descriptions of what is being fixed, and what you might want to leave alone.
I dug into the community behing the game a bit as well and, while this is a great story by Eurogamer, you could write a book about the efforts that went into "fixing" the game, and the politics of what content is used in what package and what happened to the people who put the work into the game. It's fascinating stuff, and people can become quite territorial about the various patches, and the "right" way to experience the content.
Give this a read, as it's a neat, although somewhat depressing, story. And then go play the damned thing, it's great.
