The delayed launch of Saints Row in the EU is bullshit, for what seems to be no good reason
No matter how much we like to complain about this or that when it comes to gaming, we have it pretty sweet here in North America when it comes to release dates and pricing. This look at why Saints Row IV is out in the US but not overseas is interesting, and touches on a number of ridiculous aspects of how games are sold.
Retail's stranglehold over when digital versions of games can be released is already ten kinds of bullshit, but in this case there is no physical version to create competition for stores. It's just kind of a mess of bad reasons for a delayed launch, and no one wins. People want to play the game, and I'm guessing it's out there on the pirate sites, but there is no way for overseas gamers to buy and play the game legally.
It's hard to know who to blame them this happens. Valve? Deep Silver? The retailers? The Masons? It's bad news for everyone involved, though.
By the way, you should buy and play Saints Row IV. It's very, very good.
