The joy, anguish, hugs, and gambling of Evo 2013 captured in pictures

Evo 2013 may be over, but today we're getting one of our best looks at the tournament series yet thanks to a wonderful photo set published on Polygon, shot by photographer David Zhou.

This series does more than just give you a look at the venue and the enormity of the event. It also takes you in close to capture the moments of joy, disappointment, and sportsmanship that are often hard or impossible to see on a stream.

Spectators can hear the roar of the crowds and see them jump up and down in excitement, but there's something special about photography when it comes to capturing emotion. It sets that moment in stone, and allows you to study the face of someone who is on an emotional rollercoaster.

This photo set does that extremely well as we get to see the faces of fans with their eyes bugging out from the tension of a match, competitors hanging their heads in disappointment, and victors...throwing their shirt into the crowd.
