The modern history and possible future of Israel, as told through board games
We're used to seeing articles about the benefits of games in education, but this might be the first time I've seen strategy games shown as the best way to understand historical context.
A well-crafted board game or video game can show us not just what happened, but can help us feel the allure and dangers of all the available options in a historicial situation. It makes you appreciate the importance of geography and politics rather than looking at war as simply a struggle of manpower and munitions.
A book can explain what happened, but a game is much better at explaining why it happened, or what else might have happened by putting you in the shoes of those in power.
This is a very neat look at the board games which can, sadly, show us much of the modern history of the nation of Israel.
