Volition successfully trolls Rockstar Games with free “GAT V” release on PC

Grand Theft Auto V is out today on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Many fans are waiting for the PC version, and of course they will likely get their wish, and I’m going to go ahead and call a next-generation version with an expansion pack or two coming in the future as well.

Until then, Saints Row IV is happy to troll Rockstar and its fans with the free “GAT V” DLC package, released today for free.

The description continues this fun joke. “Want to buy “GAT V” on PC? Too bad! Because we made the “GAT V” pack FREE on Steam for today only!” Good stuff. The package contains some weapons, two custom skins, and that’s pretty much it. But it’s free, and Volition gets to rub Rockstar’s nose in their great PC version of Saints Row IV.

Rockstar is likely to respond by staying completely silent and selling an absolutely monstrous amount of Grand Theft Auto V on consoles, but hey. It’s still fun to see companies take shots at each other.

The free deal is only good until tomorrow, so act fast. I'll be spending the day digging into Grand Theft Auto V, and will post about the first few hours of the game tomorrow. If you haven't purchased Saints Row IV, by the way, you should probably fix that.
