What to do with your current gen systems once they become irrelevant
It's a quandary we face every console generation. The new consoles are shiny and exciting, but at the same time we still have the old ones sitting there. Can you actually bring yourself to part with them? Do you sell them for money toward the new console? Forsake all the memories?
Personally, I never get rid of a console. About once every four months I get an intense craving for some random older console. Most recently it was the PSP. Before that, original Xbox. Before that, Sega Saturn. Before that, Dreamcast. Before that, Nintendo DS.
It doesn't make financial sense for me to get rid of my consoles when I know for a fact that within a few years I'll be struck with a craving to play it that is so intense I'll end up on eBay buying it right back. But frankly, I'm starting to hate this habit. I'm moving to a new apartment this week, and I think about half of my earthly possessions are video games.
