‘Stalk’ As A Double Entendre
I would like to apologize to everyone who came by the con yesterday. The night before, an evening that started with a Sonafield show culminated in a drunken state I can only describe as “thorough.” To give you some indication of how thorough, let me just say that by the end of it, we were thinking about starting a band. God only knows how many proto-bands were conceived in that very bar, that very night, but my guess is that the ratio of bands to tables was one to one. I woke up okay, but I dressed in the dark. It was a miracle that I came up with a Pie Hole shirt, which was at least thematically appropriate, but I didn’t even know I owned this particular, ill-fitting pair of pants. I don’t think they were Brenna’s.
I’m going to go look.
The con was actually much bigger than I expected, and up until the last hour or so we didn’t have a moment’s rest. It’s nice, recognizing people who have been coming to these things for the last couple years. People often seem surprised when we say that we’ll sign the things they brought, whether it be their hat, or a strip they printed out, their hand, or anything else - I’ll admit that I’ve never understood that part, but I’ve only been to two cons now. Is it common for people not to sign things?
We only found out about this con a week or so ago, so it was nothing short of miraculous that we were able to actually get our new shirts and posters there in time. I think that putting actual characters on the shirts may be our boldest innovation yet! God willing and the creek don’t rise, our store should be done near the end of the month, and it will have everything we had available at the con if you couldn’t go, in addition to some other stuff. I don’t know what yet. Maybe lint.
There was a man from something called “SakuraCon” who asked us if we wanted to go to his thing this year, and I said okay. Someone else had asked us before, and I think I might have turned them down, because I’m not sure that people go to Anime cons in order to see something like Penny Arcade. There’s just an incongruity there. Worse still, my highly developed sense of place tells me that we might not even be welcome. I guess we’ll see how it goes.
My lease is up at this apartment, and I’m waiting for a call back from the nice landlady. I didn’t want to say that I was a writer, which is basically the same as saying you are unemployed, but at the same time I needed to communicate that I had some way of earning money. Should I go outlandish on this one? Pirate?
While I am sitting around the house being agitated about this housing thing, I will also be writing about MoO3 for posting later today or on Tuesday. Monkey and I decided we were going to give it a good, solid try on Friday, just to check it out, and the next time I paid any attention to the clock it was eight hours later. I love this game, I love it very, very much, and I believe I will be in the minority.
i just keep listening to the daredevil song
