God damn, Mork drew his ass off on this shit. I was just typing that he seemed to have a sparkle in his voice as I told him about World of Warcraft Forever, but he just called to write the strip and he was already installing it. Soooo…
They've kinda cracked the code on adding value to a subscription, huh? I remember back in the day, when SOE was making all those MMOs, they had a single sub you could use to access all their games so that even if the natural churn occurred they might capture you in another product. This was before cash shops and things like that; people didn't tolerate additional fees on top of subs back then. Now Blizzard is doing that, but behind the sub are a few different versions of WoW tailored to individual tastes.
The last one I got really into bad was Wildstar, I loved the action combat, the PvP, and the housing… also the art, and the raids. I needed something outside the typical energy. Whenever I try to go back to a more traditional experience I usually find that the place in my mind that produced the good chemicals is completely burned out and instead invest myself in something with cards, which never let me down.
On this #Fridabe, we're gonna try out Batomon Showdown, which is like a Pokemon-like autobattler things that looks like it got its start on itch.io maybe. You can play it right there in the browser if you want but now it's on Steam also which is a pretty classic arc. Usually get started over there around 11 at twitch.tv/pennyarcade - see you there?
(CW)TB out.
