Behind the scenes
I got a lot of positive responses to the new CTS image I posted yesterday. My plan is to make this CTS image the next limited edition print and then use the pic I did of Gabe and Tycho on the subway for a new poster.
Here is a wallpaper version of the CTS drawing. I even included a wide screen version for you wide screen people. I also tried to arrange it so that people who keep their icons on the right could use it as well.
I had a lot of requests for a step by step explanation of how I did this one. I’m not really good at that sort of thing but I’m going to give it my best shot.
So the process starts with lots of sketches.
I painted the background in Photoshop. I put together a couple animated gifs that sort of cycle through the different steps I went through.
Once I had the background painted I dropped in my inks and colored the CTS.
So there you go, that’s how I work. The comic strip is actually very similar. All my stuff starts as a pencil drawing and then gets finished in Photoshop. I don’t use illustrator or Flash or anything like I that. Shit, I wouldn’t even know how to use those programs if I wanted to. Anyway, I hope this was helpful or at least interesting to someone out there.
