I'm going somewhere for a little while, so we looked at our list of quote unquote treasured, underutilized characters from our ancient past and decided to take Rex Ready for a spin. It seems like it ended up being topical.
What's happening at Microsoft is Asha Sharma's actual job. This kind of reverse midwifery must have a face so that this face can leave, and take the stain of a painful transition with it. She wants to entertain a billion people a day and she's gonna fire people until they get there. It's the sort of thing I would only understand if I were being paid to understand it.
What's the endgame? Right now it looks like an Embracer situation. Or a Ubisoft situation, frankly. Broken up along natural faultlines internally, cut to the quick, then paraded in front of the only suitors with this kind of appetite - a return to an earlier state, give or take about ten thousand jobs? Time travel, but dumb.
I don't know what to say, except I've never seen one of these acquisitions yield more jobs in aggregate. The next time Microsoft, or SpaceX, or whoever the fuck gets a rumbly in their tumbly I am begging them to look into the very, very recent past.
(CW)TB out.
