After Wednesday's Wattersonian horseshit, we're back to what we do best: animal cruelty.
I was bowled over when Mork grabbed World of Warcraft. It was a really big part of his life for a long time, and we have a lot of strips about the dangers of recidivism. I was there also, but not like he was. He had a taste for blood. He got super into Battlegrounds at one point but he had to keep going hog wild in there to maintain some kind of "rank"...? Maybe you know. I think the rank gave him access to Elite Pauldrons, which as we know are their own reward.
He's always been more tolerant of grind than I have been; he'll pop into some new freemium thing hot off the presses and find the absolute edge of what can reasonably be accomplished for free. He understood and was down for the sales pitch of WoW Forever, which is the oft-attempted and rarely executed Going Home Again. But the strip is not an exaggeration, that's literally what he told me. He didn't complete one quest! He'd started to churn and process some wildlife when whatever the impetus had been evaporated.
I've read so much cool stuff about it, and it makes me happy because it actually seems to be offering that fantasy of The Return if your mind can still process dopamine. We've just been mined out, I think. It's not you, it's me. In the manner of Pi, we've apparently drilled out the meat that lets you live in Azeroth.
(CW)TB out.
