As I suggested previously, with me heading down to PAX Aus for about a week Gabriel suggested that we might sup from the bitter bowl of Dreaded Continuity. He asked if I had a Lookouts story I wanted to do, and I didn't when he asked but this was remedied swiftly by the portal which exists in all beings to the unsullied Infinite.
I keep remembering that there is a lot of Lookouts lore that exists in the board games or in my steadily progressing novella or just in my head that nobody knows, even Morak. Since it's not what we typically do, we don't get to progress it very often. I don't know. I like making whatever we make. I just like to hang out with him. Maybe the mix is off; maybe there's another, different mix.
I worked for about a million years with a writer you have heard of and a director you haven't heard of yet on a full movie treatment for Lookouts, and the larger Eyrewood, and it was sorta in the throes of Covid where many projects came to languish. But, as Mike and I often say, there is no wasted work. It might have felt like that at the time, and certainly to an extent I feel manipulated by these systems, but I know everything now.
Books and books, a trilogy minimum, and I wouldn't have sat down and broken the story out if I hadn't been lured into their lush pillow palace with promises of fractional, even microscopic wealth. I understand that there are ethical and aesthetic concerns about working for free, but I did all this for free. It was mine to give, and it would be churlish to curse that young man for his folly when that folly gave me so much.
(CW)TB out.
