I saw a few full-throated defenses of Tilly Norwood, a kind of cybergolem designed to supplant human actors. It's from Particle6, a company nobody had ever heard of before a week ago, utilizing their DeepFame engine - a name I assure you I did not make up. I haven't seen an article about Tilly Norwood that didn't include the note that there were already suitors lined up to utilize their tech, which there is no proof of, and no way to prove it. SAG-AFTRA would fuck anybody who even attempted to use this in a production directly up their ass.
I hadn't seen this article on The Free Press. The link only goes to a preview, and that preview gave me my fill of whatever the fuck this elderly public transit masturbator is going on about. This is directly beneath the headline:
Tilly Norwood doesn’t need a hairstylist, has no regrettable posts, and if you wish to see a virgin on-screen, this is one of your better chances. That’s because she’s AI.
We can go into all the many reasons why carnograms like Tilly Norwood might have real or nuanced externalities and should probably be discussed, but a reason that is just as good or better not to do it is because this fuckin' guy likes it. That's enough for me.
Moraq and I were putting strips together for while I'm gone at PAX Aus next week, and he asked me if I had an idea for a Lookouts story. I didn't, but then ten seconds later I did. So the next five comics or so will be called Lookouts: The Blessing, and I felt bad when I was writing it, which usually means there is something interesting about it. There is a ton of lore that is only in the game, played by a vanishingly small subset of a subset, or bound up in a novella that hasn't been released. There's some in this one, too.
(CW)TB out.
